MISSION—RISE AGAINST HUNGER

Meal Packaging Event - Sunday, February 18, 2018 @ 2:00pm - Fellowship Hall

Envisioning a world without hunger, Ray Buchanan, a United Methodist minister, founded Stop Hunger Now. In 2017, Stop Hunger Now rebranded to become Rise Against Hunger.  Visit www.riseagainsthunger.org to learn more such as: RAH “supports safety net programs that provide nourishment as well as additional skills training or services that support the difficult journey out of poverty.”

RAH provides highly nutritious dehydrated packaged meals comprised of rice, soy, vegetables, and 23 essential vitamins and minerals.  The meals are used primarily to support school feeding programs in developing countries. Hunger is the common thread among the world’s most challenging issues. Targeting hunger,  specifically by supporting school feeding programs, leverages support to other causes including poverty, disease, education, and the welfare of women + children.

The Wilkesboro United Methodist family annually band together to help in this mission project. Our goal is to raise $5800, which will provide 20,000 meals. Your financial gift to WUMC/memo RAH and help on February 18, 2018 for the meal packaging event is welcomed.
